North Korea's New Diplomatic Dance: A View from Southeast Asia

Please join the National Committee on North Korea and the United States Institute of Peace for a discussion with Ambassador Dino Patti Djalal, former Deputy Foreign Minister and former Indonesian Ambassador to the United States. Amb. Djalal recently led a small delegation of Asian scholars and experts to North Korea in early April. He will share his impressions on North Korea as well as his thoughts on the prospect for peace on the Korean Peninsula.

NCNK Executive Director Keith Luse will provide opening remarks, and USIP Senior Expert Frank Aum will moderate the discussion.

About the Speaker

Ambassador Dino Patti Djalal is a former deputy foreign minister (2014), former Indonesian Ambassador to the United States (2010-2013), and also served as the presidential spokesperson for President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono from 2004-2010. Amb. Djalal recently founded the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI), which has become the largest foreign policy group in Indonesia -- with over 70,000 people in its network. He also founded the Congress of Indonesian Diaspora in 2012. He is currently an Asia Fellow at the Milken Institute and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the World Resource Institute Indonesia.
