World Affairs and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea will host a special program on the future of US-Korea relations and the Korean Peninsula. Moderator Philip Yun, President of World Affairs, Professor Chaesung Chun of Seoul National University, Professor Kathy Moon of Wellesley College, and Scott Snyder of the Council on Foreign Relations will discuss the recent history and future of a US-Korean alliance and the Korean Peninsula, and how the new Biden administration may impact the relationship between the two countries and the issues relating to peace on the Korean Peninsula. The US state department describes the relationship as one "based on mutual trust, shared values of democracy, human rights, and the rule of law, common strategic interests, and an enduring friendship." How can we strengthen our ties moving forward? How has the recent shifting position of US policy with North Korea changed the strategic dynamics on the Korean peninsula and what changes might we anticipate now, as President Biden takes office in 2021? Can the new administration help to strengthen peace on the Korean Peninsula?
