Earlier this fall, North Korea launched almost as many missiles in a single day than it had for all of 2017, the last record-setting year of missile launches by the defiant country. Scores of missiles have continued to be launched by North Korea, including the claim of the successful launch of a Hwasong-17 intercontinental ballistic missile. Against this activity, government officials from the United States and South Korea have repeatedly warned of an imminent seventh nuclear test by North Korea and vowed a strong and unified response. What is driving North Korea’s behavior? What can be done to reduce tensions? What are the prospects for negotiations? What can we expect in 2023?

Please join the National Committee on North Korea and the US-Asia Institute for an hybrid event with Chad O'Carroll, Andrei Lankov, and Jeongmin Kim from NK News to discuss this and more.
