Is There A Light At The End Of The North Korean Nuclear Tunnel?

After a disastrous and dangerous 2017, diplomatic initiatives have opened a window for resolution of the North Korean nuclear crisis. But will the Trump administration's diplomacy succeed or fail as have all attempts over the past 25 years? Siegfried S. Hecker will offer his perspective based on seven visits to North Korea and comprehensive study of North Korea's nuclear program.

This event is made possible by the generous support of the Institute of International Studies, Center for Korean Studies (CKS), and Institute of East Asian Studies (IEAS).

Siegfried S. Hecker is co-director of the Stanford University Center for International Security and Cooperation, senior fellow of the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies and professor (research) in the Department of Management Science and Engineering. He is also director emeritus at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, where he served as director from 1986 to 1997 and senior fellow until July 2005.
