The present report is submitted pursuant to Human Rights Council resolution 55/21. It provides an update on the situation of human rights in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea since 2014 and a stocktaking of the implementation of the recommendations of the commission of inquiry on human rights in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, along with conclusions and recommendations.

Annual report of the UN's Special Rapporteur on North Korean Human Rights, calling for an approach balancing accountability and engagement, and warning of potential humanitarian impact of sanctions.
UN General Assembly resolution condemning human rights violations in North Korea, adopted by a vote of 119 in favor, 19 against, and 48 abstaining. The resolution was adopted in the wake of a major report by the UN Commission of Inquiry on North Korean human rights, and included for the first time language encouraging the UN Security Council to refer the human rights situation in North Korea to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
This report by the office of the UN Secretary-General provides an overview of the human rights and humanitarian situation in the DPRK from September 2014 to August 2015. The report also provides information on the level of engagement of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea with the United Nations human rights mechanisms during the reporting period.
