UN General Assembly resolution condemning human rights violations in North Korea, adopted by a vote of 119 in favor, 19 against, and 48 abstaining. The resolution was adopted in the wake of a major report by the UN Commission of Inquiry on North Korean human rights, and included for the first time language encouraging the UN Security Council to refer the human rights situation in North Korea to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

This report by the office of the UN Secretary-General provides an overview of the human rights and humanitarian situation in the DPRK from September 2014 to August 2015. The report also provides information on the level of engagement of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea with the United Nations human rights mechanisms during the reporting period.

This FAO report estimates food production and demand in North Korea. It was prepared based on official production figures and FAO analysis, but not on information gathered in the field, as an FAO assessment mission did not take place in 2014.

On November 18, 2014, an amendment to the EU-Japan Resolution on the Situation of Human Rights in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was submitted by Cuba. The amendment failed to pass in a vote of 40 in favor, 77 against and 50 abstentions.

This is a report of the FAO/WFP Crop and Food Security Assessment Mission (CFSAM) which visited the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) at the request of the Government, from 27 September to 11 October 2013 to assess the 2013 main crop harvest, forecast the 2014 production of winter and spring crops, estimate cereal import requirements for the 2013/14 marketing year (November/October), and assess the household food security and nutrition situation.
