H.R. 1464, the North Korean Child Welfare Act, was signed into law by President Obama on January 14, 2013. The Act is an amended version of the North Korean Refugee Adoption Act of 2011, sponsored by Rep. Edward Royce (R-CA). The Act would require the State Department to periodically brief Congress on efforts to advocate for North Korean children living in other countries who are fleeing persecution or stateless.
